A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is
nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Newcastle Boxers is a small program, and as such we don't have many litters per year. Our goal is to produce Boxers of sound temperament and good health, combining strength and elegance, style and substance to exemplify the Breed Standard. In essence, our puppies are bred and raised as though we were keeping them all for ourselves; we strive to produce and raise Boxers that we would be happy to have in our home.

Nettie playing with grandpuppies Our puppies are raised in the busiest area of our home, allowed to interact with our other dogs from an early age, and are exposed to a wide variety of sights, sounds, smells, and people when young. We follow the "BioSensor" early neurological stimulation program and the Rule of Sevens with our puppies. In this way we can ensure that we have done our absolute best to raise properly socialized puppies with the sound temperaments that are a trademark of our breed.

We strive to be sure our puppies are sold to loving, committed, lifetime homes. We watch and take notes on our puppies' development from birth, and perform Puppy Aptitude Tests at 5 and 7 weeks, to help us evaluate their personalities. This allows us to offer you the puppy that will best fit your situation and needs. We know all of our puppies well and we learn as much as we can about our purchasers before we place the puppies with them. While we will consider color and gender preferences, we will not place a puppy solely on those criteria. Our puppies are raw-fed and naturally-reared, and preference will be given to potential homes that are willing to work with us on providing our puppies with what we believe are its best chances for optimal health.

In an effort to ensure that our puppies are going to receive the care and commitment they will require throughout their lives, we ask all potential buyers to complete a questionnaire detailing their experience with Boxers, their home situation, and what they desire in a Boxer, among other things.

Before you fill out our questionnaire, we would like to acquaint you with what we as breeders promise, and what we expect of you as the potential owner.

We make an effort to increase the odds that our puppies are free from inherited defects, by screening prospective breeding stock for those problems common to our breed. However, due to complex genetic interactions and environmental factors beyond our control, we cannot guarantee that a puppy purchased from us will be free of genetic disorders. We do provide options should a puppy be found to have such a genetic disorder, which are outlined in our contract.

Your puppy will have been fed a species-appropriate raw diet and raised in accordance with our philosophy of natural rearing. To this end, we request that you continue feeding a raw diet; limit or avoid avoid such toxic substances as vaccinations (except as required by law), flea and tick control products, heartworm preventives, highly processed dog treats; and provide your puppy with fresh, clean water and ample exercise, fresh air and sunshine daily. While we realize that we cannot dictate what you do in your own home, because of the complex nature of genetic conditions and the profound effect environment can have on them, we cannot warranty the health of any puppy if these feeding and rearing guidelines are not followed.

Pet puppies will be sold on AKC Limited Registrations and non-breeding contracts. Due to the increasing amount of evidence that spay/neuter can have serious adverse long-term health effects, we no longer mandate that puppies undergo these surgeries. We believe this is a decision that is best made on an individual basis, by the puppy owner in consultation with us and their veterinarian, and that in many cases it is best done at a later age than the traditional six months.

Show or breeding prospect puppies will sold on AKC Full Registration and co-ownerships. The co-ownership may be lifted at a later date, the terms of which will be decided on an individual basis and outlined in our contract. There are many variables to co-ownerships, and they can be tailored to meet any situation. We try to be very fair with our co-ownership arrangements - our goal is to protect the dog while being mutually beneficial to the buyer and to us.

We have litter themes for our puppies' registered names, and so all puppies will be named before they leave us. We are willing to work with you on specific names within the theme, or to add on a kennel name in the case of a show/breeding prospect, but our kennel name must remain on the dog. You can choose whatever call name ("everyday name") you want, of course.

All of our puppies go to their homes with a complete written contract signed by the breeder as well as the buyer. It clearly spells out our obligations to the purchaser and theirs to us, as well as our policy on returns and replacements. We try to be generous and understanding. We have invested a lot of time, work and money to bring these puppies into the world and we want them as protected as possible. We require you to notify us if for any reason you cannot keep the dog, and we retain the right to have the dog returned to us in that circumstance, with or without any monetary refund.

Your puppy will be microchipped with the AVID microchip, pre-registered to our kennel. This will enable any shelter or vet that has a scanner to trace your puppy back to us - and through us to you - in the event it should be lost or stolen. You will be given information on how to enroll your puppy in the AKC Companion Animal Recovery program and/or the AVID FriendChip program, if you choose to do so.

If you are interested in a Newcastle puppy, please complete our Puppy Purchase Application. (The form will open in a new window - close the window to come back here.)

Because we don't breed frequently, we have a multi-level screening process. The first step is filling out the application, which gives us information about you, what you'd like in a puppy, and how we can contact you. When we are expecting a litter, we will contact you to see if you are still interested in a puppy, and if so we will place you on our working waiting list; from there we start building a better picture of the type of puppy that will fit best in your home. If we feel you would be a good match for one of our puppies, we will forward you a copy of our sales contract and information outlining our philosophy and requirements. Please read these items carefully, and feel free to compare them with others. We also encourage you to look over our suggested list of Questions to Ask Breeders. We do not make decisions on puppy status until eight weeks of age, and will not start matching specific puppies with homes until that point.

If you decide our philosphy and terms will not work for you, we would be happy to help with referrals to other breeders. Not every breeder is a fit for every buyer, but we appreciate those who take the time to research before purchasing a puppy, and would like to do what we can to help them find one from a responsible breeder.

Please visit our Litters page for information on upcoming litters and referrals.
